T-Bob (Ordo Saint Maurice) Week 3 - Or "My life as a human Pez dispenser"
Tuesday, April 8, 2008, 02:45 PM [General]
All: It's now two weeks since my surgery. The immediate effect is that I had very limited range of motion and a lot of pain. I'm taking Lortab for that, though. After about a week of convalescing, I was able to do some light chores around the house, but my surgeon said, "No lifting anything over 25 pounds". Needless to say, that makes performing in armour with Levant Preceptory this Saturday right out of the question. Last week, My surgeon's assistant took half of the staples in my neck out. This certainly made sleeping easier, but I still find I have to sleep on my back at night, and that the staples pull and make my neck much less flexible. I have an appointment to see the surgeon next Tuesday to see what restrictions I have (if any), and for how long. Then, I have fto rebuild my depleted vacation and sick time. The good news is that I've had a lot of time to rest, and to work on projects--I now own a Hungarian-style horsebow, and am even now patterning out a bowcase and quiver for it in a Turkish style. Once I'm healthy enough, I'm going to start shooting this. Ideally, I want to learn how to use a thumb ring to do it right, but we'll see. That's all for now, T-Bob (Ordo Saint Maurice)
Finally got onto this page!

All: This introduces tmplrbob (also known as Ordo Saint Maurice on Renspace). I am nominally a SCAdian, but most of my focus of late has been towards making my kit and encampment suitable for the Village of Bellericay at the Fishers RenFaire. My portrayal is that of a late 12th century Templar sergeant, preparing for the Third Crusade of Richard Couer-de-Leon. To this end, I have the following: My big goal is to use what I have as an educational opportunity. The last time I went to the Fishers RenFaire, my area got quite a lot of questions (especially from the children). That's what my presentation is primarily aimed towards, but I don't mind answering questions from adults, either. If anyone has suggestions on how to improve my presentation, please don't hesitate to ask.

Rings and rivets....

Rings and rivets on their way from Icefalcon Armoury. Yay! Robert (Ordo Saint Maurice) Christmas Morning....
Tuesday, December 25, 2007, 10:07 AM [General]
Woke up at 8:20 this morning. Ate pancakes with syrup and bacon, fresh-ground coffee and watched The Littlest Angel on DVD. Cleaned up for Christmas--got a leather trench-coat, a woolen dress coat, a pair of dress gloves and an MP3 player. All in all, a good Christmas. Robert |
